Besides the fact that food is delicious, it also acts as fuel for our body. In order to make sure our body is being fueled properly, we must know the nutrition behind the food we consume. Though reaching out to try new foods can lead to unhealthy eating choices, it is important to maintain a health lifestyle in a search for new adventure and flavor. Remember to keep the amount of sugar and fats to a minimum and have your daily dose of fruits and vegetables! Not to be the person to ruin everybody’s perspective of junk food but the rate of obesity in America is really shocking. A study done by Dr. Andrew Weil stated that a third of the American population get 47% of their calories from junk food. This blog however is an appreciation for food from home cooked meals to cultural cuisines. Breaking that healthy kick for a hearty meal is good every once in while. Another great idea is making a few minor changes to substitute a few unhealthy ingredients to healthier options. An example of this includes substituting whole milk to fat free or 2% in baking and cooking. Also replacing applesauce for syrup and using whole wheat bread and pastas. Try searching for healthier ingredients to substitute in your next recipe!
